     Any IIgs system in an unopened box would be of special interest. On the
other hand, the value of the package also depends upon what model IIgs is in
the box.

     If there is some dating on the box, that would be one source of info
about the model. Like, 1986 through around August 1987 would put you in the
ROM-00 model range. September 1987 through July 1989 would be the time of the
ROM-01 model. August 1989 onward would be the ROM 3. (There was no ROM 2
model.)  Dating near the beginning of the next model leaves you 'on the
cusp'-- you could have the older model or the newer one.


     Of course, you could open the box, set up the system, and see what the
screen says on power-up. The model will be indicated by "ROM-01" or "ROM 3"
near the bottom of the screen (or no ROM version shown for ROM-00).  But,
leaving the box sealed could be your best bet.     

     If you have any dating or other info then, naturally, you would supply
it in any ad on ebay, etc.. Even so, it seems likely that you will get the
best price for a genuinely unopened box, even if the model is unknown.

     How much is it worth? If brand new unopened and unknown-- "as is", "I
don't know"-- the box may go for $200 or more (plus shipping). I would not
accept less than $150.

     If you attract collectors who are seriously into 'original package
unopened' stuff, the price could be bid significantly higher. For the best
price, you could wait for the 15th anniversary of the IIgs's release (Fall of
2001) and offer the unopened package then.

     For sure, it's an interesting item.
