Re: IIgs Accelerator Project
Update:
I now have a working 8088 circuit! It is very exciting it turns on a
led!
The circuit is surprisingly simple. All it has in it now is an 8088,
8284, 3 74373s (for address latch and buffering), a 74245 (data bus
buffer), a 7404, a 7432, a EPROM, and a 74373 (for port ouput to light
the led).
Anyway, I know it is not much, but it is a start! Also, I did some
searches for higher speed microcontrollers and I found that the 8051 can
be had in speeds up to 40Mhz. Does anyone know if there are higher
speed 8088s available and where? I know that GE PLCs use a 16Mhz 80188
so I hope there are faster 8088s available. This would make upgrading
the speed a lot easier and easier to create faster accelerator models.
The complexity of breadboarding a 8088 as compared to a 386 is at least
16 fold due to the number of bus lines!
