I believe that in an Apple II or II+ just about any card should work in slot 3. In a IIgs the same is true if you select "Your Card" but you will the be losing the Built-in Text Display (80column firmware). Not a good idea unless the card contains it's own 80 column stuff. In both the //e and IIgs if the card you put in slot #3 has no ROM on it then it should work without interfering with the built in 80 column firmware.
