On the IIGS, the file type is not stored in the resource fork. Instead,
vital data required by programs are stored in the resource fork. So
in general, file type changers and resource editors on the IIGS are
separate programs. However, there is one program called
UtilityWorks for the IIGS which has both a file type changer and
a resource editor. It can be found on the ground ftp server
somewhere.
Mac file types and IIGS file types are different, so you can't do it
the Mac way from ResEdit.
I actually do not think you need to change the file type of your
text file, however. When Mac uses PC Exchange to put a text
file onto a ProDOS disk, it is stored as a text file with the right
file type.
On the IIe turn the text file into a BASIC program by using the
EXEC command. Type EXEC then the program name and press
return. The program is entered into memory. Then SAVE the
program.
