What about deteriorating (or undersized) capacitors in the PSU? Couldn'
they also produce such an effect? I remember once fixing a cheap indoor
powered TV antenna that caused this same effect by simply soldering a
decent 4700ï¿½F capacitor across the DC power-in socket.
