Just as an FYI, I received a email from AllTech on the 25th telling me that 
they had received my order on the 24th and were shipping my order that day.  I 
called AllTech today (31-Jan-00) wondering why I had not received my shipment 
as of yet and was told that they were supposed to call me today but hadn't 
gotten around to it yet.  They are again out of the "500 mb" focusdrives and 
are not sure when they are going to be getting in any new ones.  

In all honesty I was, to say the least, rather pissed off that they were just 
thinking about getting around to informing me of this fact today (six days 
after they told me that I would receive my order within 3 to 4 days)...  
Fortunately, they were also out of the SuperDrive's that I had ordered 
thinking that it would work off of the not so "smartport" on the //gs so I was 
able to cancel that part of the order and they were going to go ahead and ship 
my RAM chips out to expand the memory card that I purchased out to it's full 
population.

I don't know that anyone from Alltech reads the newsgroups, but I can 
guarantee you that I was less than pleased that they were still going to ship 
the RAM chips on the 3 day saver route rather than overnighting them to me 
since I was originally told that I was going to have them 3-4 days after the 
25th.  

I guess I am venting, but it is so irritating to be told that one is receiving 
something in 3-4 days and then being told, after calling them myself, that the 
order had not shipped yet.  I guess it's just another case of "Dilbert 
Management" at work...  At this point, after I receive the RAM chips and the 
FocusDrive GS 500mb, it will probably be the last of the items that I order 
from AllTech. The company that I work for would have at least, to save face, 
particularly on a new order, ESPECIALLY after telling the customer that the 
order was already shipped, would have sent the customer the higher/better 
version of the product rather than telling them 3 days after it should have 
arrived that it was going to be another 3-4 days before the in-stock 
product would arrive not to mention the fact that it could be up to a week 
before we were able to ship the other part of the order within 3-4 business 
days after it arrived...
