Ram Card Problem

I have a an Applied Engineering GS ram card (2mb), which I belive has a
few bad chips. I have to set my ram disk to 512k which I belive is
blocking the offending chips from being accessed by the system. The ram
disk is unstable, sometimes it wants to be reformatted, sometimes it
disappears. It usually won't accept more than a few k of data before it
returns an error.

My question is:
I have a fully populated Apple 1mb ram card. Do these cards use the same
chips? (ok I guess that was a question, preceded by a statement)

If they use the same chips, I think I could isolate the bad chips by
swapping them out, a few at a time. This, of course, assumes that the
problem isn't on the card it's self.

Any other ideas?

Please feel free to email if you can come up with a plan, or can confirm
that my plan will not destroy something.
