I don't use the ESC key for much. There wasn't even such a key on Macs
until the SE and II came out.

With system 7 and up, the zoom box will resize a window to either fit its
contents or fit the screen boundaries, whichever is smaller. With the IIgs
finder it's more of a toggle between minimizing/maximizing window size. If
you want a window to fit its contents, you have to size it that way yourself.
