I didn't have any problem converting Apple II generated text files to the Mac
and getting them to be read on the Mac, but going the other way has developed
problems.
I went to a University library and ran a computer search on some educational
tests. The librarian told me that I could email the results to myself. Great,
I said. Then I can get them on a real computer, my Apple IIe.
Well, they showed up in my email, so I formatted a floppy for ProDOS, dragged
the mail icons (which had been saved as text files) over the ProTYPE (version
1.1) icon to strip away the resource fork, and then dragged the icons on to the
floppy's icon. I transferred the files from the 1.4MB diskette to a ProDOS
formatted 800K diskette on the Mac at school. When I tried importing the files
via AppleWorks on the IIe, I can only read 8 out of the 25 or so files.
I thought that a text file was a text file. I could accept the problem if none
of the files could be read, but why can some be read? Of those that can't be
read, some are larger and some are smaller than the files that are accessible.
