The Code Fragment Manager puts together fragments of computer machine
code. A Macintosh program can be made of many code fragments because the
processors that were used in the early Macs limited the machine code of a
program to 32K. To get around that, many programs' code was broken up into
segments that were sent to the processor as they were needed.

Or is that the description of the Segment Loader?

By the way, this is the newsgroup for the Apple II computers, the ones
that preceded the Mac. I suggest you look down the list of newsgroups some
more until you find the appropriate one, which should be somewhere in the
comp.sys.mac.* hierarchy (did I spell that right??).
