To format or do any R/W to Apple II diskettes on a PC requires special
hardware, such as a Trackstar E card, plugged into a PC. Even then, you are
likely to need to have an Apple II 5.25" drive and composite monitor plugged
into the Trackstar. You may find a Trackstar on ebay or at Emerald City Sales
(870-743-3872; http://www.ahhz.com ) for around $30-$40.

If you add a 1.44MB drive and controller to your IIgs, you may be able to
access PC 3.5" diskettes via a program named "MUG". Supertimer would probably
know more about this approach.

Actually, doing NULL modem transfers is pretty easy; and, the high-speed
hardware handshake modem cable and NULL modem adaptor (or cable) are commonly
available at low cost.
