Identifying Appleparts
Howdy,
I owned a IIe when they were new ($3,000.00), and when they discontinued the
line and didn't make a compatible system (or at least publicize one) for
three years, I bought a PC and swore never to return to apple land. Now, I
have several IIe's, a IIc, twelve extra drives (some even work!), and a ton
of floppies. I would like to know how to identify a "unidisk" perferably by
maker/serial number, and the old winchester drives they made for the II
systems, and according controller cards. I would like to get a 3.5 drive for
the iie, because the 5.25's are dying fast. Obviously a IIgs would be swell,
but I have no idea how to identify one. Several of my systems have
unidentified cards (other than the super serial, drive, 80col, and memory
cards) and I have no idea what they are. Can I post to this group and/or
can somebody help me to identify the cards I do have, and is there a catalog
of "desired" or "must have" items for the II line (such as a "transwarp"
whatever the heck that is.) so I can identify them when they hit the local
thrifts.
OK, I guess what I'm asking is... is there a site for oldbies. I know and
can identify what existed that I owned and used, but I can't identify what I
haven't seen or remember.
Any help would be appreciated,
Joe Larson
