Picking thru A2 pallets
A salvage place called me today since they know I like Apple stuff, and
they just got in a couple pallets stacked with ex-school stuff. I am not
an Apple novice, but I didn't even know where I should start. I picked out
a dozen or so floppy drives, leaving maybe a hundred or more, passed on
all the Imagewriter II's (most were damaged by the stacking), skipped
IIc's with missing keys, found one complete IIc, but no power supply (not
to worry I have some). Basically I just picked around the edge of the
pallet looking for the less damaged goods, and didn't even make it into
the bottom layer of Mac Plus type units.
The pallet of IIe's was worse, and I didn't take any complete computers
out of it, but pulled cards until my fingers were well perforated. Mostly
super serial, and disc controllers, but about half a dozen Workstation
cards, and the same number of some sound card called a Echo.
Now I am smart enough to know that ANYTHING unusual in a Apple II series
is worth keeping, ie the HP-IB controller card or the workstation cards,
but what about the other stuff like the floppy drives? Should I just look
at eBay to see what people want, or are their some items that are less
obvious that I should look for? My personal requirements seem well taken
care of, so what I buy is just to turn around and offer on the net at this
point (so it isn't tossed, and to make a few bucks).
