Good question. I'll let the others get into the detail. I'll just deal
with the generalities.
Lynx is a text web browser generally found on UNIX type systems. It can
usually be accessed when connected to an ISP using a shell account. If
you have a shell account there is not much point in having lynx on your
computer.
If you do not have a shell account but have a SLIP/PPP account instead
then lynx may be feasible. As I understand it (my information may be
outdated) only Spectrum and Marionetti for the GS can access the
internet in this way. This combination produces a semi-graphic browser
which displays more than lynx. So, again there is not much point in
having it on your computer.

Compared to Netscape or IE (as some tech support call it
AIIIIEEEEEeeeeee...) it isn't very big or complex. It occurs to me
GNO/ME may be the perfect place for lynx.
