I programmed my own ROMs for a //e also.  However, I did not make one
for the character ROM because I believe the device is a 2K Eprom (or
something similar) with a different pinout than most common ROMs such as
the 27C64 EEPROM.

What part did you use for the character ROM??  Is it an electrically
eraseable part?
