Problem with a compressed air car is not power, but power
storage. It will have a short range. Have you read about
an alternative that stores power in a flywheel? The idea is
to plug a flywheel car into the outlet at night. An electric
motor spins a massive spinning wheel to very high RPMs.
The inertia of the flywheel then becomes the storage
device. In the morning, you unplug the car. The flywheel
turns the motor now and the motor becomes a generator.
The electricity produced drives motors which power the
vehicle.
Supposedly, they got such flywheels to store energy for
many days (or long range if you tap the energy), but
it was kind of dangerous. An accident that could cause
the flywheel to disintegrate would send many hurtling
projectiles every which way. NOT something you want
to see on a highway.
