The commonly used formats are SHK and BXY. If you are uploading a disk
image, you can use DSK, SDK, or HDV. After converting it, you can compress
it into a ZIP or GZ file if you want. Other file formats I have rarely
seen.
There isn't anything that says you should avoid any particular format. At
least not anything I've ever seen.
