Sure it will.  But a plain Laser 128 has a built in 5.25 drive mapped
to slot 6.  So it'll try to boot slot 7 (which the Laser assigns to 3.5
drives), then slot 6, triggering the built in 5.25 drive at which time
the Laser will hang and spin the 5.25 drive until you hit control
reset.  You never get to slot 5 because the 5.25 drive is blocking
the way.
