Well, even though the conversation was not about software, you will need
to be careful on the ram names. Zram used /ram3, checkmate used /mram.
I can't say about the few other memory cards. With the Applied and
Checkmate cards you had to execute a driver program. It was not active
by default. The Apple slinky card on the other hand was. It came with a
driver built in the firmware.

Even the Appleworks expander had to modify Appleworks itself to be able
to use the memory. Of course this was built in with later versions.

Another good program for extra memory is Copy II Plus ver 9. It made use
of extra memory with a /ram driver and by using some unused portions
as extra buffers.
