Why quit on a trusted system that works!

Obviously, your problem is your aging computer and not your database system. 
If you don't want to just get another Apple IIe (about $5), then how about
running an Apple II emulation program on your new computers!

The program, which has served you well, will now FLY at the higher speeds of
the  new computer.  How fast?  Fast enough to get you that pay raise for coming
up with this great idea (go ahead, take the credit).
