Personally I agree with David that you should set the SCSI cards ID to
7 at all times so that it has the highest priority on the SCSI bus.
It is far better to turn your SCSI devices on and let them warm/spin
up before you turn on the computer.
I did that for ages before I got a RamFAST SCSI card in my main
machine which will wait up to 45 seconds for drives to appear on the
SCSI chain.
