IIe bootup question -I'm a newbie.
Hi, folks. I recently purchased a IIe for a friend of mine, and I would like
to test it out before I give it to him for Christmas. When I turn the system
on, the only thing that appears on the screen is the Apple II logo. Do I
need to have a traditional boot disk in the floppy drive, or is there some
way to get the computer to move past this logo?
I have never worked with an Apple II so I'm not sure of what is supposed to
happen. From what I've read, it seems that the Apple II's had some sort of
simple OS burned into the ROM, so that you didn't need to have a bootdisk to
boot the system up -sort of like the old Tandy 1000ex's. Is this correct?
Also, is there anyone out there who could e-mail me a bootdisk image, that I
could load onto a floppy for this system?
Thanks.
Ernest.
