Yes. The only programs that can zip a file is the Agate
communications program and possibly Angel, both of which are written
by the same people and use a lot of the same code, but they can only
zip up a single file. They also can unzip files but their user
interfaces leave a lot to be desired.
There is also another program called UnzipIIe that has an interface
very much like the 8 bit version of ShrinkIt.

Yes. I'm not sure where you can download a binary of it but the nulib
sources are available and I believe all set up to compile and create
an executable under any type of unix.
