Glenn,
having a look at the schematic r/w on the slot is connected to UE1 -
74ls125, UB8 - 74S02, UE4 - MMU & UE5 - IOU.
If you have confirmed that both the MMU & IOU are good, I would look
at the 74ls125 first.
