WAUG annual Xmas meeting

The Winnipeg Apple Users Group is having its annual Xmas meeting on
December 1'st at 7:30. The location this year is Daniel Macintyre
Collegiate (hopefully in the teachers lounge). I do not know the exact
address but it is on Alverstone North off of Sargent. Parking is on
Alverstone.

We appear to be the largest Apple// club in the region. So if anybody
from out of town wants to drop by, you are more than welcome. Geographic
area close enough for a drive would be North Dakota, Northern Minnesota,
Eastern Manitoba, and Western Manitoba. People from South Dakota,
Montana, Southern Minnesota, Wisconsin, Eastern Saskatchewan,
North-Western Ontario, and Northern Manitoba would probably want to rent
a hotel room. To find Winnipeg (from the US) locate Fargo or Grand Forks
North Dakota and follow I29 into Canada where it turns into Highway 75
then go North. If you are not familiar with the weather you will
probably want to dress warm. Oddly enough we don't have any snow yet and
it is still warm for the season. If we are lucky we won't get any for
the next month or so. If you are crossing the border, check with customs
before you leave. There are some things they will not allow into Canada
(eg. guns). Finally $1.00 in Canadian funds is worth $0.68 in US funds
(you can use bank cards here, exchange your money before leaving,
perform the calculations yourself, or ignore the exchange rate if the
item is cheap enough).

There is usually an admission charge of $2.00 (which goes to keeping
the club active for another year). We usually have coldcuts, potato
chips, cheese, coffee, and softdrinks.

This is also the time when people bring in their old computer
equipment. The Apple can run some PC hardware and most Mac hardware. A
good number of Apple// magazines make an appearance as well. If you want
to get rid of your older hardware or software, worst case, you can
donate it to the school or club.

Since most of our members have more than one type of computer we won't
exclude anybody who wants to show up to say hi and have a chat. Although
the club is for people who run Apple// computers we have more than a few
people who run Apple// emulators on their other machines (the
demonstration of Bernie to the rescue last month was impressive).

New developments... The club computer has a new 80 meg SCSI harddrive
(no SCSI card yet). We also have some spare ][+, //e, and III computers.

	Hope to see you there...
