Yes, but this is only true if the MS-DOS disk has no volume label. If it
was labelled before any long file names were put on it, the FST would be
able to use it. Windows stores it's long file names in fake volume label
entries, so if it wasn't labelled, then the volume label would be part of
a long file name. That is what confuses the FST (and, possibly, you :) .
