AE GS Ram

I have an AE GS RAM memory expansion card which is giving me problems.
Card is marked REVISION A and has chips in banks A, B, C, & D; E & F are
empty.
I'm using it in a ROM 03, which works fine with other memory cards, and
will work with the GS RAM card if I shift-boot, but not if I allow a

I know that for AE GS RAM+ you need different chip  for ROM1 and ROM3.
Maybe the same is true for AE GE RAM
