    I always thought 4164's and 4264's were the same.  Different manufactures
use different numbers.  If they have the same number of pins, then use them. 
If the are labeled 42464, they are 64K x 4, and they would have something like
18 pins, instead of 16.

   I use to have, and still might in storage, programs that would tell you
exactly which chip was bad.  When I went through Franklin school to work on the
ACE 100, they gave us a program that was very small, and would identify which
chip was bad.  And I had another program from Apple that would identify which
chip also.  My Apple II stuff is buried however.

   If you are getting junk on the screen, more than likely it's in the bank of
RAM that's towards the front.  The other bank usually don't come into play
until you go into 80 column mode.

  So if the chips you have are 16 pin, use them.
