iMovie problems - Received a new iMac Special Edition on 11/4/99 from
Maczone. Using the movie editor and moving the window, causes it to crash.
Apple tech support said to re-install the o/s. Claimed sometimes there are
problems when they fast copy a harddisk. After re-installing, it no longer
crashed the system when moving the window but will still crash on ocassion.
Apple says that iMovie is a new product and a new release is being worked
on.
Ships with old 8.6 - Version 9 is in stores but this NEW iMac arrived with
8.6. Apple's official comment is that all computers are being shippped with
8.6. I says a NEW product should have a NEW o/s. Apple says that by the
middle or end of the month they will ship with version 9. I suppose they
have hard drives ready to go and did not want to bother with installing the
current o/s. Shame on Apple. First they raise prices on the G4 (slower cpu
for the fast price), and now they grab you were it hurts with another one,
sticking you with old stuff. Apple's official comment is it's the consumers
responsibility to "PAY" for the upgrade. This IS NOT an upgrade. Version 9
should have been current on the NEW system. My complaint is being filed
with the State Attorney General for Washington State.
