Actually, the good news is that the Apple LocalTalk PC card is quite
common at swap meets and flea markets (I never paid more than $10 for
one here in New England).  The bad news is that, under Linux at
least, an LTPC will not interoperate with //gs on LocalTalk due to a
low-level timing problem.  It does work against a IIe or //gs with the
Apple WorkStation card (_those_ are a hard to find).

I have had success with the so-called Tangent/COPS/Farallon LT cards
and the //gs.

Make sure to get Adrian Sun's patched variant of netatalk!  The base
U-Mich package is hopelessly out-of-date.

Perhaps a better solution is to pickup a LocalTalk <--> Ethernet
bridge such as a Kinetics (aka Shiva) FastPath 4 or 5 and come into
the PC on 10Mbs. ethernet.
