Jon, I like to create hypercard stacks for my own use
on the IIGS.  Building stacks do not just mean storing
the final stack.  You need to bring the elements
together.  Digitized sound.  Synthesized music.
Graphics.  Even video.  All those files also take up
space.  For example, I've used hypercard to
categorize my music and video collection.  I record
a sound clip from each song, scan all the album
covers and for the videos I have pictures of the
promotional posters.  Hypercard is the ultimate
database program.

Then there are the free stacks from other
sources.  For example, the stack about Babylon
5 takes some 5MB of disk.

To give you an idea, I've filled up an entire Zip disk
with stacks and stack building material.  That would
have spanned 3 ProDOS volumes, but instead I
kept it all in a single HFS volume.  Easier to organize.
Besides, HFS' naming rules are more liberal so I
can name the files more descriptively.  Sort of like
the change from Windows 3.1 naming to
Windows 95 naming.

Take a look at the hypercard areas on ground and
caltech ftp servers to see for yourself.
