Need Apple 2e info + SSC man/info

Hello,

I just recently learned about this usergroup and I think it's fabulous.
I've owned a Apple ][+ plus since 1979 when I spent almost my whole life
savings $2745 to buy one without a monitor. Sadly my disk drive did an I
was able to buy another one in a garage sale about 8 years ago. this one
too is dying.

Well anyway, I was able to buy a Apple IIe a month and a Half ago. It
came with a Super Serial card and a Haye Micromodem IIe. Sadly I didn't
get any manuals with the computer or the expansion cards. Heck I didn't
even get any software except for DOS 3.3 System master which I already
own. It's a good thing I have my own software from the Apple ][+ which I
can use. But it still is an upgrade form the ][+ since I also got the
Extended 80 Column card with 64k ram.

I'd like to either get the modem working or the SSC working to connect to
a local Apple user group here in Edmonton, Canada. I know that one there
are some members from the EAGLE group who read this newsgroup. I need the
dip switch settings for the SSC and I'm guessing one or both sets of dip
switchs sets the baud rate. If anyone can provide me with the dip
settings or a website that lists it that would be fabulous.

Also can anyone tell me about the Hayes Micromodem IIe. Is it a 300 baud
modem only? I'm missing the cable connector from the card to a RJ45 jack
I believe. There are some pins near the back end of the card but no cable
and hence no connector to the wall outlet. If someone could provide me
with the function of the pins it would be greatly appreciated. Since i
belive it's a direct connect modem that would mean I would only need to
connect two pins, am I right? I am of course referring to the 2 lines
required for the telephone.

Does the Micromodem IIe have a built in telecommunications program or a
terminal emulation? I don;t have any software for either the Super Serial
Card or the modem. Does anyone know if a freeware/shareware program
exists and where to get it. The hardest part will be to get it written to
a Apple II (5.25) disk as the only connection to the internet I have is
through a Wintel machine.

Please if possible could anyone responding to this post please send an
email to my email address (both are the same account just different domain
names for a freenet) or simply use the reply function instead of followup.
Since I'm relatively new to usergroups everytime I read a post I lose the
link and I can't read the followups a different day. I'll read this post
on Sunday giving some ample time for anyone to respond before I read it to
make sure I get most responses.

Having upgraded to a IIe it's like being a kid again in a candy store.
BTW, how do you enable the extra 64k on the Extended 80 Column card and
how do you enable the 80 column feature. Which PR# do you use if you use
one at all. Do I enable the SSC the same way?

Thank you all for your patience in reading this long post. And thank you
in advance for any info you can provide me.

Dale
