IIGS (Woz LE) won't boot

When I attempt to boot my IIGS, I receive one of two messages. The
first says, "Check System Device" with a ping-ponging Apple logo
beneath it.
The other comes from a "Three fingered salute" which produces what
appears to be a check of the monitor colors and system font and
followed by an error message that says, "System Bad 05012A00."
There are two external drives (3.5 and 5.25) which are recognized in
the start-up sequence. I know the 3.5 works, but suspect the 5.25 is
bad. I've tried the latter on other Macs and it just rejects the
disks. So, I took it out of the IIGS system, but even with just the
3.5 it still won't boot.
What should I do? Is there any sort of Start Disk application I can
download?
I've been reading the FAQ's and posts here concerning the IIGS, and
I'm eagerly awaiting taking a look at the OS, and anything else it may
have on it. It doesn't appear to have a hard drive, if that's so, it
would explain why it won't boot, but then why the "System Device"
message?
Any guidance is appreciated.
