Well, that's sorta true.  (^_^)  NTSC has a few advantages over PAL -
believe it or not.  One major advantage (and this is going to drive the PAL
advocates nuts) is NTSC's *increased* vertical color resolution.  Most PAL
decoders in televisions actually cut the vertical color resolution in half,
believe it or not.

Don't quite believe me?  It has to do with combining two P_hase A_lternate
L_ines together - you have to average over two scan lines to get the Hue
corrected color signal to work.
