It should be automatic. The IIGS sound system is on the motherboard
(a 32-channel Ensoniq wavetable synthesizer chip). The card acts
as an amplifier for the stereo channels. There should be some ports
at the back of the case that connects to the card which carries the
output signals for the speakers.
Any IIGS software that uses the Ensoniq will output sound on the
SuperSonic (that means any 16-bit software that uses sound, the
old 8-bit IIe stuff does not count).
For sound input, there are various digitizer programs on the usual
ftp servers like ground. AudioZap is a nice one (note: before Ian,
the author, pounces on me for not paying the shareware fee, note
that I only took a look at the program...since I have HyperStudio,
I use the commercial digitizer program that works only with their
hardware, SoundShop, instead). ;-)
Stefan, if you are not familiar with the IIGS, I can send you the
full specs for the system. I didn't do so without asking because
I figure you must be familiar with the IIGS if you recognize that
you had a IIGS upgrade in a IIe case.
