IIGS overhaul...ROM01 v ROM03...AE gear

I just decided to get back into my IIGS.  I'm going over to my mother's to
pick it up and give it a complete overhaul.  The Vulcan failed, and
countless other things probably have died from dust overdose.

I used to live on this machine, but for the life of me, I can't remember a
damned thing about how it runs.  It seems as if I'm going to have to start
from scratch and relearn everything... <sigh>  Damned PCs.  :^)

Anyway, here's the first of many questions to come...

I had no idea that they revised the ROM.  How can I find out which one I
have?  I have this vague memory of a blue screen telling me.  Regardless,
what fixes are in ROM 3?  Are they essential?

I'm going to be needing a lot of gear.  Especially AE stuff.  I tried
e-mailing AE via their webpage.  But little did I know, that page and email
address has been defunct for probably a few years.  Even though the company
is gone, there's still got to be piles of Transwarps and Vulcans lying
around in their warehouse?  They didn't just chuck that stuff, right?
Anybody have the inside track with AE?  Can anybody point me in the right
direction?  Not just for AE but also other manufacturers?
