cheap, available Trackballs for Apple II+ and IIe

My serial BitMouse that came with my BitMouse card that I use in my IIe is
dying. While considering buying a new one, I realized that perhaps my search
for a trackball-mouse for the IIe was at last over. The Kensington Microware
TurboMouse was long gone and I've tried an old nine -pin Macintosh trackball,
but it didn't work, and an ADB Trackball seemed out of the question. But what
about the BitMouse card itself?

One of the selling points for the BitMouse Card is that it uses cheap IBM
serial mice. Since a trackball-mouse is used as a mouse, why can't I use a
serial IBM trackball with my BitMouse card on the IIe and finally have a
trackball-mouse for my IIe? I'm not talking about those new PS/2 or whatever
IBM ADB-want-to-bes, but those 9-pin female connectors that connect to the male
connector on the BitMouse card.
