9-bit vs 8-bit SIMMs should not be a problem, since the OctoRAM just
ignores the extra RAM bit.

There are other possible problems, however: the "foreign" RAM might have
peculiar timing, not support the access mode used by the IIgs, or have
different refresh requirements.
