Hi,

Is there any books that showcase the history of Apple II? I am not
referring to old books, but books that we can buy in bookstore that
talks about Apple II - history, pictures, etc?

I have seen a few books that relate to the Apple computer in general,
Mac, arcade games, etc, but I have never seen any books that is
dedicated to Apple II. Considered that this is one of the best selling
computers at all time, there should be at least one such book.

Lots of great books have already been mentioned: Fire in the Valley,
Insanely Great, Infinite Loop, etc. I've these and a stack of others
on my book shelf. They are all pretty worn and dog eared though,
because I've read them all several times and leant them to friends.

One that hasn't been mentioned yet is "Accidental Empires" by Robert
X. Cringely. (He also stared in the 3 part TV series "Triumph of the
Nerds", which was based on his book). Excellent. The book is full of
humour and great stories about back in the day. It's not focused on
the Apple ][, but it does talk about the Apple ][ in places.

I never read that one, but I do remember the series on PBS and then years later I found a set of the VHS tapes (must have been a "gift" for pledging to PBS) at a used book sale. I certainly liked the tv series when it first aired, I can't remember what I thought when I rewatched it about
six years ago.

I first read this book back in Chrismtas of 1996 (or was it 1997 ?),
sitting on the dunes, overlooking the beach very near to where I
live. Made the book very special - a magical experience. I could not
put the book down. Burst out laughing quite a few times. People on
the beach would turn and star and wonder wtf I was laughing at. LOL !

Well worth checking out. :)

All the best,
