Yes, those machines may have slots but that doesn't mean that the
companies that produced them will honour the warranty of a machine
that has had someone other than a certified technician poking around
inside of it.

If you aren't concerned about the warranty, you can always pop the
case but if you are concerned about the warranty, it would probably
best to wait for the warranty period to end before popping the case
yourself.
