An 8 bit system with a proprietary CDOS based floppy version and a ProDOS 8 version both developed at a university, assuming I got my recollections functioning properly. Based on included documentation it was a shareware compiler but soon there was no one to send the fee to. This system was quite capable and there is even a library of Apple's SANE routines available. The runtime stuff did require a small patch for compatibility with GS/OS. After all, it used an old technique which treated the BRK opcode as another cpu instruction albeit that is another story.
... ByteWorks of Orca fame created an add-on compiler for their 8 bit Orca Assembler system. While this 'tiny C' system could be useful in the correct environments (for example, the ECP8 command shell could execute properly created utility programs from it), it's limitations were sometimes obvious. I must admit to having limited experience however, so caveat emptor.
... Finally, I read an add a couple of times in Nibble and perhaps A+ regarding a C compiler system. There was no other information which I've managed to locate in regards this compiler but would love to hear more if someone else might know anything about it. Offhand I don't even recall if a name was given.
