I have a vauge idea of how baud and bps work with modems, but it is clouded
by years of disuse. :-( If anybody has a moment, I would appreciate what
(if any) role baud has with serial ports.

I have never managed to get the serial ports to work properly under Windows.
Probably why I don't use it. But it does leave me wondering why I use a
Mac. ;-)
