Thanks Michael, thanks pitz, but unfortunately that's not the thing.
CTRL-J and CTRL-K work during the archive selection just like the left
and right arrows do, but they do nothing at all at that point I
mentioned, when the drives are listed. Nor does SPACE or RETURN, which
I'd guess should allow me to confirm the selection. Nor does any other
SHIFT, CTRL, or SHIFT-CTRL key combination (I've tried them all), except
as I said the letter O (which re-reads the drive list and the volume
names) and the period (which writes FINISHED to the screen, beeps three
times, and quits).

Any other idea? The program I'm using calls itself "II+ UNSHRINKIT 2.1"
in the top line of the screen and says "COPYRIGHT 1990 BY ANDREW E.
NICHOLAS" below that. I took it from an archive called "PDShrinkIts.sdk"
listed in the Apple II faq. Is that the right thing at all? Given the
name, I am sort of inclined to assume that it SHOULD work on a II+ and
shouldn't require typing a character that the II+ keyboard can't
produce, like backslash or underscore.
