Hi everyone, I'm trying to help a RamFAST user with a
Zip drive read MS-DOS Zip disks with MUG! Has
anyone done this?
A little background information. I do most of my IIGS
to PC and PC to IIGS file transfers using Peter
Watson's MUG! desk accessory. It is an amazing
program. I have an Apple High Speed SCSI card with
a Zip drive. I can just plug an MS-DOS Zip disk into
the drive, open the MUG! desk accessory, and copy
files to and from the MS-DOS Zip disk at will.
Thus, I'm trying to help another IIGS user set up the
same transfer system. He's got the SCSI Zip drive.
However, he has a RamFAST card.
The problem: the RamFAST card does not seem to
see MS-DOS formatted Zip disks in the Zip drive
on MUG!'s device list! I have no idea why this is so.
The user can use the Zip drive fine with ProDOS and
HFS disks, though.
I've been in email contact with both the user and
MUG!'s author. Peter Watson also has an Apple
High Speed SCSI card, so we are all still in the dark
about the RamFAST card's behavior.
So I'm now looking for RamFAST users who have a
setup with a Zip drive used to read and write
MS-DOS Zip disks.
BTW, does the RamFAST always require an SCSI
partition map? The Apple High Speed SCSI card
DOES NOT require one. The more I learn about the
RamFAST card's quirks, the more I'm glad I have
the Apple card!
