It wasn't that long ago that the ZipGS went out of production.
As I remember it, they had used up on hand supplies of a custom
chip and I believe they would have had to order a considerable
quantity to get any (was it 10,000 minimum order?). Also sales
were poor. I recall someone mentioning they were down to one
last accelerator and about 3 weeks later someone posted that he'd
bought it. Even then it was purchased by someone that had one
and only wanted a spare. If half of the people that posted they
wanted one in the month after it was out of production had had
actually bought one when they had a chance it'd still be available.
I imagine buying up the rights to the ZipGS wouldn't be too costly
but even if it was free, I doubt if you could ever break even. Maybe
yourself and 20 or so others would actually buy one but that's about
it.
