I'd take a guess and say that you need to hold the joystick up, or press
up using the keyboard, whilst your jumping. This makes Rastan jump higher.

So, usually you'd be travelling to the right, you'd have the joystick up
in the top right position and then hit the jump button to jump as high as
you can to the right.

If that's not the problem, you'll probably need to be more specific!
