Volume Number information is embedded in the Track/Sector formatting. So,
practically any whole-disk copier will preserve the Volume Number of the copied
disk.
One good whole-disk copier is Disk Muncher. It is available on a DOS 3.3
disk file named TnilUtil.dsk (disk image) and TnilUtil.sdk (a ShrinkIt disk
file) on the ACN Tarnover site at ftp://tarnover.dyndns.org/cabi/Utilities/ .
If you are looking for a copier which will let you _change_ Volume Number,
the selection is much smaller. You can accomplish the same effect by Initing a
disk for the Volume Number you want and, then, doing a file copy to move files
to the disk with the new Volume Number.
