Many moons ago I used to "deprotect" Apple IIe software as it was easier to
make back ups of some of the 5 1/4 software used at school than to try
copying it with CopyIIPlus/Locksmith etc. There was a fairly high turnover
of disks!
My memory is a bit hazy as to what went in and what went out but effectively
you got a normal DOS via the cassette port so as to later read and write to
a second disk drive.
I learned the technique from the Hardcore Computist magazine.
