The IIgs comes with a built-in sound jack which outputs composite mono on both
('left' and 'right') lines. This composite signal is just one step away from being
2, 4, or more separate channels.
A "Stereo Card" (like SuperSonic) just demultiplexes the composite signal to
obtain two outputs. It's a simple operation handled by a few gates which requires
no special driver software. Any software which outputs 'IIgs sound' supports the

My knowledge of the SuperSonic is nearly zilch; so, I don't know which jacks
do what on your board. If there is just one jack on the back, it is probably a
'stereo' output which can be fed to a stereo amplifier. Since the card is supposed
to have a digitizer option, the RCA socket is probably a line-level input for
digitizing and 'recording' sound (using software such as Sound Studio or Sound
Shop) from a tape recorder, etc..
Regarding getting the card working with minimum background noise, the
following from Mitch Spector may help:

Examine the card closely, there are 6 pins that are grouped into
pairs labeled "LN", "HI", "LO" (these are: Line-Level, Amplified,
non-amplified). There should be two jumper blocks, and you must
place them so each pair matches -- e.g. LN+LN, HI+HI, LO+LO are
the *only* valid settings, do not mix them.
From what I recall, Line-Level is the only setting where you
don't pick up stray noise from inside the computer. So, to fix
your problem, simply short both jumper with the "LN" pins (that
is LN+LN).
