I write:
I completely agree. Either the Apple II should have been "phased" into
the Mac, migrating to a fully graphical interface and gaining Mac-like
features, like the Apple IIgs, while retaining Apple II qualities and
compatibility, or the Macintosh should have been transparently backward
compatible with the Apple IIgs.
